True to his epithet, Shanks has clearly red hair: normally depicted throughout media as deep-crimsonish. Deserving of note is that, uniquely amongst all characters yet seen, even ones with similar hair tone, Shanks' hair is the sole one filled with grayscale in the black-and-white manga (instead of tattooed black or left white). His first-seen hairstyle was a directly, middle-parted one kept loosely down to nape length, with much shorter (at eye level), curtained bangs in the front.
